My Lovely Friend

This past weekend, my friend Olivia and I spent time laughing(a lot), telling stories, and taking pictures. We had the best time walking around in the bright sunshine, taking pictures of anything and everything. My favorites though, are the ones that we took of eachother, so here are a few that I want to show you...
Isn't she beautiful?

One of the things I love about this girl is her joy!!! We laugh so hard together! (especially late at night!)
She loves to take pictures, and she is such a great photographer!

Well there are just a few pictures that we took the other day! I hope that you enjoyed looking at them!

Haiti

Well, I am FINALLY, going to tell you about my trip to Haiti this summer!!!! To say the least, it is an experience that i will never forget. Since pictures are worth a thousand words, i will share  a lot of them in this post!!!
This is our team... well almost everyone(some of them aren't in this picture). We all grew so close to eachother throughout the trip! We are like a family- and in fact we are in Christ!!!
While we were down there, we put on a VBS for the children in the area. During our 3 day VBS, we had 200 haitian children come each day.
Although the age range was a little different than in the states... 3 yrs. old- 20 yrs.old, we did most of the same things with the children(and adults). we had crafts, worship, recreation, drama, and a basketball camp! I led a group in crafts, and it was pretty difficult to explain it to the kids! These kids speak a language called Creole, which is a mix between french, spanish, and....?

This is the orphanage in the little village of Shambrun. It houses about 10 children. Currently, they are building a new orphanage on the site of the mission where we served just outside of Shambrun.

One of the things that surprised me about Haiti, was the amount of cell phones! I mean, this is a third-world country, and almost everyone had a cell phone. Their children might be malnourished, and naked, but they still have a cell phone.
We spent most of our time holding the Haitian children...

And the Haitian girls spent most of their time holding my little sister, because they had never spent time with or even seen a little white girl before.

Here are some of the beautiful children I took pictures of...
As a treat, our team got to go to the resort part of Haiti, and enjoy a day a the beach!!!! It was like we had stepped into a different world... we had been in a dry, poverty-stricken area, and then we walked into a lush, green, rich landscape.
All in all, we had an amazing mission trip in Haiti! I know that our team was a blessing to those in Haiti, and I am positive that those Haitian children blessed  me so much more than I blessed them!!! Thanks for reading this, now... "Go into all the world..."
